"R"
Scales |
|
R1 R2 R1' R2' |
The Rn scales, used with the D scale,
can rapidly determine square roots. R1/R1' runs from 1.0 to
√10, while R2/R2' runs from √10 to 10.0. Combined, the
Rn scales are like a D scale twice the normal length.
The Rn' scales have the scale ticks on the top side
of the scale, while the Rn scales have the scale
ticks on the bottom of the scale. R1 and R2 are
available for use on the top and bottom rules, in
conjunction with the D scale, while R1' and R2' are
available for use on the slide in conjunction with the C
scale. Gauge marks are located at π on the R1/R1' scales, and τ on the R2/R2' scales. All scales have gauge marks at √10. Formula: Rn = √X |
R10 R20 R40 |
The R10/R20/R40 scale (Renard series) is a
scale containing the preferred numbers represented by the
Renard series. The series on this scale consist
of the 10√10, the 20√10, and the 40√10
series. This scale is available for use on the top or
bottom rule, and is used in conjunction with the D scale. |
